Wiring for patio heater

Hello, does an electric patio heater (1.5/2kw) need special wiring/ it’s own circuit etc? Will a two core grey cable with earth be ok?

Patio heaters are the devils work.
No wonder the ice caps are melting. What a waste of energy.

Must be a large Patio Heater TTC, to melt the ice caps, seriously though you are correct, just couldn't resist the chance to make a funny.

we don't know your level of competence, so hard to advise. all i can sayis that regs. state " a load of > 2kW should be on it'sown dedicated circuit." a 2.2kW hot tub comes fitted with a 13A BS1363 plug. if that's any guidance.

Any idea which Reg that is Tel? cuz I am arguing with a friend of mine and quite honestly I can't find a reference, other than a recommendation.

It’s not a reg. It’s guidance. Appendix 15 IIRC in the good book.

Thanks all. Looks like I may not be able to install anyway as the units will need a certain clearance space which I may not have. And in that I’m doing my bit for the polar caps too!

and if they are the infra red type. be prepared to replace the elements every 2 months @ £10 each.
