Boiler tripping main fuse

I have a grant vortex combi boiler and it has started tripping the main fuse when the programmer calls for heat.

Any ideas.

Faulty Pump or Valve, do you have a maint contract for your boiler? if yes contact the provider.

No maint contract but will get the pump checked.

5amp fuse in the switch + MCB +RCD

Pobably the diverter valve leaking. So as call for heating the valve moves (screw type motorised) and the seal has gone. Maybe, just a stab in the dark there.

Is that an external oil boiler?

It's worth getting someone out to look at it either way as there are a number of things it could be. Trying to diagnose long distance is guesswork at best.

Not external, internal.
Going to disconnect the pump from the PCB and call for heat from the programmer tomorrow, if it doesn't trip that would suggest it is a fault with the pump ??

Anywhere that electricity and water come together is suspect. Pump, valves, even the boiler itself.

Success i think, i disconnected the pump and turned the programmer on and it didn't trip.

Will post again after i get a new one fitted.

Problem solved, when we went to remove the pump the pump cable was jammed between the front of the flame box and flame box casing, when we took the front off the cable was fried. Put a new cable in and it's all working now. Thanks for all your help Regards
