Got a block of 6 flats to do.
What is the standard set up for Aerials? Wire all points back to Center point, or take an aerial to each flat, and use a booster?

Has anyone been involved with the installation of a disabled alarm in a building remote from a occupied building.
I'm carrying out electrical works to a remote shower block in a caravan park,as an after thought the owner has decided to install a disabled toilet/wet room in the block.
He has...
Quick one.
Tails are 10mm. Earthing cable from rod to earthing block inside the CU is 16mm.
Where i am, we have the tails in, everything RCB protected and then the earthing cables from the circuits/appliances etc into the earthing block. On my CU, the earthing block is a bank of 'quick...
Hello,
I have an electrician installing a new light and ring circuit for a loft conversation. He has joined the cables using block connectors which are in turn covered with electrical tape. Some of the earth cables are exposed. Could someone please tel me if this meets UK regulations.
Kind...
Thought we could do with a handy list of cold callers that's you've had recently, so others can avoid their sales calls.
Who was the last firm to cold call you related to your business?
(Not talking about PPI claims, we all know to ignore those lol)
As I was being ushered out of the door after a brief pre-work visit I saw that the incoming neutral goes into a Henly block with an Earthing cable sticking out of it. The earthing cable was 10mm and it was just snipped off and had been left there. The CU was changed in 2012.
I have 2 questions...
Evening..
If ever I am installing an earth rod or main bonding I always bring the cables back to the consumer unit.
With a job I have just taken on it would be easier to have an Earthing bar in the electric meter box and bring the cable from the rod to this and then to the CU, the reason...
Hi All I would be interested to hear your opinions on this situation:
It's a property which used to have the electricity meter in the middle of the house, the consumer unit is still there and there is still a cut out with a 100A fuse in it, a neutral earth block and a small label that says it...
Hi all,
The title says it all really, I am just wondering what method those of you with more experience use to surface mount cable to hard breeze block, the kind where your nails either bend of just fly off lol??????
In my case, I need to mount cable to an unplastered garage (internally) made...
Hi all,
I am hoping for some guidance on the maximum dead calculations or a studio flatand also the block in general.
Background is I am working one a single studio flat in a block of 16, thelandlord is gradually going to redevelop the whole block and add an additionaltwo stories making a...
Just been to see a new build to quote on. 5 bed domestic, shell going up now. Solid concrete block walls throughout, with block & beam floors. Owner is not sure yet about plastering, I may get a dot/dab, which would be easier for me (albeit a bit crap for the owner).
If it doesn't go that way...
Evening all,
I'm having a debate at work regarding the wiring of emergency Lighting in the landlords area's for a 10 storey block of flats. The emergency lighting is integral to the standard lighting (So no separate em lights other than above doors)
Person 1 (me) - The cabling should be MICC...
Doing an EICR today in an old thatched property. Old wall light in hall, obviously not enough room behind to enclose the connections.
Cable surface routed and connected to light fitting with choc block on the outside and taped up with black tape to blend in with the light fitting!
How...
Was carrying out an eicr on a 2 bed flat. Unfortunately i was unable to gain access to the meter cupboard. What should i put down on the certificate? My gut says put it in the limitations but is this correct, or do i need to gain access ?
Thanks
Dave
For a new block of flats I am considering locating the meters in a meter room. Our suppliers now fit 100A cutouts after each meter. From each meter cupboard I want to run 25mm SWA (or the braided 25mm cable, watever this is called) to the consumer unit inside each flat. Now the cable entering...
Hi guys, I have been asked to install some additional sockets for a family friend. However when I have been to look at the house (1950's built) I have found that the upstairs walls are really thin. They look like breeze but are much softer (I can pratically scrape them away with a screwdriver)...
