Been a while since I last posted on here. Hope everyone is keeping well. 👍 I appears for interweb searching the MK or the new guise of MK are producing an AFDD / RCBO that will fit the MK Sentry CU’s. Is anyone actually selling them? I see that TLC show a manufactures spec sheet but unless I...
Hi all,
Turned off RCBO (Lewden B32 6kA) to fit new socket. I always test for voltage with both a volt stick and voltage tester. Volt stick went mad. Went back to check the RCBO and its switch was in down position but for some reason not actually "off". Seemed a bit wiggly - switch wasn't...
Hi Guys
I'm not a Hager user so hence the question.
I've been asked to wire in lights and a fan etc for a bathroom for a mate of mine who's a bathroom installer, I've called at the house today to take a look so I can price the work, the existing consumer unit is a plastic board fitted out...

Good morning all,
My first post on here! Be kind :)
I have had a customer come to me who has a care home for the elderly. I have not carried out the EICR but have been given the sheets. They have had an EICR carried out in December 2020, the EICR has failed on a couple of things one been...
RCBOs consume between 1.5 and 2.5 watts for each pole - according to Wylex. Have a CU with largish bank of DP RCBOs then the annual cost of just having RCBOs is substantial. It is not just a few quid a year in electricity costs to have them. My question is:
Do RCBOs still consume electricity...
Evening all...
I need to fit an RCBO into a consumer unit, but I don't know if any were made.
I don't the name of the consumer unit, what it looks like, what age it is or which country it is located in. Could you let me know which RCBO will fit in it please @westward10 and send me a link asap...
anyone got one of these?
beer tokens will be provided!!
to fit one of these boards.
I really don't want to do a board change because i know when i start testing all the circuits i am going to be left with a massive can of worms.
Just wondering what this might be.
It was a brand new Schneider RCBO fit into an older Square D board. RCBO fit on the non RCD side. Everything working fine, load is on and pulling. I always press the test buttons on the RCBO's just to check, and this time the switch 'stuttered', sort of...
I've just started at a new church and the electrics are bit of a shambles. I'm not going to be touching them as I'm not qualified, but one thing I have been told is this, which I'm not sure is correct (and really doesn't sound right).
Sometime in the 90's the building was rewired by SEEBoard...
Any ideas tried resetting this Rcbo but no luck.
Controls a PV system on a roof & had tripped.
Disconectted all cabling & tried to reset but no luck.
Being very clever I pressed the button on another rcbo supplying another PV system this I would reset either.
There are about 10 years old & are...
Hello - I wonder if anyone can give me some advice about the following:
My house has two outside lighting circuits (front lights and back lights). These are controlled via separate switches which are connected to a 6amp RCBO (30mA B curve) in the CU. Each circuit has 20x GU10 LED spots at 5w...
Hi all,
With Amendment 2 here has anyone found any good suppliers for SPD and RCBO domestic boards? I've found online a BG SPD + 8 RCBOs for about ÂŁ190 which is about ÂŁ40 cheaper than the local wholesaler. Are there any better deals out there for decent boards (I've seen 'Live' offering online...
Hello,
I have just posted in the Electrician's section one photo and two videos of what I believe to be a dangerous situation of short circuits happening within a shower unit.
You can see (also here attached):
1) Extensive burn marks on the plastic cover;
2) A vast amount of water leaking from...
