RCBO tripping even when the switch is off

Hi I have an RCBO that keeps tripping. It is a new install to feed an EV charger with an isolation switch between and is around 5 foot from the switch board. The RCBO trips at random when the switch is off to isolate the EV charger. It has not tripped when the charger is turned on. I have...

Australia 20amp RCBO neutral fly wire only 1.5mm

Why does a 20amp RCBO come with only a 1.5mm neutral flywire when you are driving a 2.5mm power circuit. Aren't you creating a choke, & potential voltage drop. I appreciate it can carry 20amps but it doesn't make sense to me

    outdated GE RCBO 617706

Hi all! GE RCBO 617706 A few days ago I found this one in my junk box and need to clarify is it type A or AC? I have tried to search for specs or something else but nothing at all. There is a two marks under a test button, first is a typical AC but what about second?

Rcbo with higher than permitted zs

Hi I was testing a large holiday let property which has a three phase supply and dB Now the original install was in 2012 and electrically is well done but poorly designs on socket circuits all rcbo are type c and only on socket circuits I am over the max permitted zs I would recommend change...

    Isolation switch vs RCBO

Planning a kitchen design with a 7.2KW induction hob. The hob will be on its own separate circuit protected by an RCBO. Best practice seems to be to have an isolation switch for the hob but the ideal switch position would be directly underneath the consumer unit. Given that I would be able to...

Advice yes or no? On RCBO fuse installation?

Got a duel wylex RCB & RCBO board installed some time back. It has space I think for 3 RCBO's. The spark suggested putting the garage feed and the shower feed on rcbo at the time I stuck with the RCB option as a false saving but am now thinking of doing RCBO for garage and shower a suggested...

Rcbo trips when it rains heavily

have been to a convenience store and the rcbo circuit that is on a 32amp fuse keeps on tripping when it rains heavy. The circuit has a warmer plate, food warmer, ice cream freezer and a drinks freezer running on the circuit. I disconnected the appliances and plugged them back in and everything...

Hi. Today I turned a rcbo on and it tripped straight away and took another one with it. Any help is appreciated. I didn’t have time to look at anything so just wondering what are peoples initial thoughts

Any seen a RCBO like this before?

Whilst looking for something else I noticed this on CEF and wondered if they had marketed it wrong and it was infact a RCCB and not a RCBO...

Help please on a sub consumer unit fed from RCBO

Long time lurker so this may be my first question. I am a qualified electrical engineer, but in aeronautics not domestic installations, and I may therefore ask silly questions. We have purchased a property that is unfinished, and where the electrician went bust before the installation was...

Evening All...I've not posted in a while which is a good thing as I can now work most things out myself!! Just a bit of help needed with this one though!! I have two consumer units, both have a mixture of MCB's and RCBO's on one of the consumer units the RCBO's are tripping randomly (The...

Replacing a Crabtree Starbreaker B32 RCBO 30mA Circuit Breaker Old Type

Hi, I need to replace a Crabtree Starbreaker B32 RCBO 30mA CIRCUIT BREAKER. 61/B3230 old type which is now obsolete and can only be bought online from Ebay. SPD in RCBO board??????

Can you fit an SPD to an RCBO board or are they mainly for RCD boards?

I have an RCBO question ????

I see in the UK that RCBO's are more becoming a standard installation now. I might be missing something obvious here but I've been wondering why are the commonly used RCBO's rated to 30mA leakage current when they're only protecting a single final circuit. Surely 30mA leakage on a normal...

RCBO energised despite N-E short... until the power was cycled...

The bit where I cut to the chase is in bold below if you can't be bothered with the back story. Changing MCB in main house DB for garage supply, so turned off at main switch. Contactum metal DB (about 4 years old), 2x MCBs for existing feeds to sub boards, the rest RCBOs (full height, single...

Converting Crabtree Starbreaker to full RCBO..?

Evening All Quick question please and hope it's poss. With an older star breaker split load DB, can I take out all the guts (apart from 100 DP iso) and convert to full rcbo? Are all the 'plug in bits' a live terminal (e.g behind where RCCB currently is) ? Would make my life easier if so ;-)...

    Fusebox RCBO failures

Had a couple now where they won’t reset after a fault current is put through it. Lamp blowing etc. switch goes floppy and won’t reset. Used to fit Hager and never had a failure. Tempted to switch back now. Anyone else had similar issues or just my bad luck? Probably fitted 150 fusebox RCBO’s...
