Hi,
So I noticed a burned out socket, the wires also pretty burned, and back of socket was also, I replaced with a new socket.
Put a socket tester on and it was showing a E fault on pretty much all down stairs sockets.
BUT soons I put the oven plug back into its socket the socket tester then...
Hi all
Im just starting out working part time with an electrician whilst studying for qualifications.
My mentor mentioned that I should keep my eye out for a good second hand tester.
But what features are essential and what are nice to haves?
My mentor mainly works on domestic properties but...
Hi,
I'm looking for a MFT and proving unit if anyone is selling there's. don't like borrowing my bosses and would prefer to have my own. I'm in the process of doing my NVQ and 2391-52 as well so its really a must for me to have my own.
many thanks
I forgot I had a Di-Log 9803P so called '17th Edition Tester!?', it was a rash ebay purchase a long while ago intended as a spare, and I discarded it when I thought it didn't have a high-current loop test. In fact there is a convoluted way of doing this but it wasn't in the original manual. An...
Hi everyone,
Which proving unit kit would you recommend? Obviously would be better to don't spend a fortune. Kewtech, Megger, Fluke o Martindale?
Thanks
hi there
can anyone recommend a test device that I can use for anything i need in the home (I think my basic multimeter is limited ....im probably looking for an entry level professional unit as im even thinking of becoming a trainee electrician as a change in career in the post covid world)...
I own a Robin 1620 tester and when using the rcd function, the dials are set, it is plugged into a socket but as soon as the switch is turned on ( not when the test button is pressed) there are no lights on the tester confirming correct voltage, the rcd trips and there is no reading at all
any...
Hiya Sparks,
I've recently acquired a robin kts1620.
It's in good clean condition but has a fault.
When it's cold (been in van over night) it works great, but when it gets to room temperature the relay does not click and it keeps restarting.
It's a bit strange, has anyone heard of this before...
My cheap and cheerful voltage tester packed up just before Christmas, so need to replace it (It lasted longer than the more expensive one I had before that broke at the cable joint to the second probe).
As we know, GS38 tips can be a pain, so I normally keep them off so that I can actually test...
Hello guys,
just looking for a bit of advice, I’d like to be able to use a voltage tester at home when required.
Are there any good videos or tutorials?
thank you
My ten year old Megger MFT1553 is nearing the end of its life so 2022 will see it replaced.
What is the current decent MFT out there? I’m quite liking the Fluke 1664 FC at the moment but cannot discount the Megger range.
Must do all 18th Ed tests and EV Chargers, robust and easy to use.
Just finishing of a job, testing different circuits everything ok.
Testing ring main rcbo protected doing the usual test, soon as I switch tester on rcbo trips.
All the tests are ok,ie continuity ,insulation resistance & polarity tried another tester & this works fine.
The tested works ok on other...
I'm looking at buying my first multi function tester and I've seen many threads where people recommend the usual (megger) but I was wondering if they all do the same thing what is the point in spending £1000 and double the price when there are compatible testers for less than £500.
Am I missing...
Kewtech are at the later stages of designing the new MFT, like all the others will be made by Kyoritsu.
The new one will be largely based on this https://www.kew-ltd.co.jp/en/products/detail/01193/
Looks bold and different. from my point of view it will be essential as so many chargers now have...
Is there a 230v 3 pin commando polarity tester that is a reasonable price? I have seen the Martindale one at £45.00
Ideally i would like one about £15.00 /£ 20.00.
I am just fixing a socket outside for my camper van to keep the topped up in the winter. The solar panels are ok for the summer.
I...
Hi. We have a circuit where some of the sockets have a dangerously high earth loop impedance. This was identified by a professional electrician. I was thinking of rewiring this, as a DIY project.
For safety, I want to ensure the replacement is done to spec. Buying a multifunction tester seems...
I have an SWA cable running from the CU to the garden that the previous owners had fitted, but no longer worked when I moved in a few years ago, that I want to reinstate.
The cable itself runs from the kitchen where the CU is and is then buried under the floor, under the utility room and shower...
