Good evening all, I’m currently part way through my apprenticeship and we are working on IB, IN, IZ and IT and volt drop today. And it got me thinking I have seen a circumstance at work, where:
A shower has been wired in 10mm T+E on a 40A breaker. But then from the shower isolator switch a 2.5mm...
As a retired electrician, I need to specify a new type B board for a village church. Principal load is heating. Ipfc phase to phase is 1.1kA.
Requirements:
23 final circuits, so don't want to exceed an 8 way board - pref no higher than about 625mm.
SPD therefore not to steal 3 MCB positions...
Need to source Type B 3-phase distribution & 3P MCBs for EVSE, 1P RCBOs etc. so my sparky can install. A 6-way 3P board will suffice. Wondering what the general concensus is.
Say, Contactum at the cheaper end vs Schneider Acti9 at the upper end.
Drawn towards the Schneider as super neat...
Hi all, not been around in a while but I'm working through a quote at the moment and found this at the end of the equipment (AC kit) suppliers quote.
From the icons provided were definately talking B type and not B curve.
For the job in question this one paragraph statement could add...
Hi all
I need an RCD replaced in my consumer unit... It's type .... Down the line, I'll be getting an EV charger installed with a Matt:e device between the unit and the charger.... Do I need a type b RCD, or can I just replace the type a, with the protection being provided by the Matt:e device...
Does any one have a rough idea how many 24w led panel 600x600 could go on a 10 amp type b rcbo with out tripping or a 6 amp type B rcbo
I found a long circuit that complies with zs when a direct measurement is taken at its furthest point , but on length alone im sure it does not comply by...
I've noticed at my grandparents house that all the MCB's in the consumer unit are all type C, every single one of them. Including the ring final circuits and lighting (there's no fluorescent lights in the house at all). The house isn't that old as well. Maybe about 16 years old. With me being a...
Hello everybody,
I am not an electrician or anything of the sort, but figured that this would be the best place to ask my question.
I have a 220v heating appliance with a Chinese Type I plug. The appliance has a volatge regulator knob that allows voltage to be varied anywhere between 0v and...

Hi new member here wishing some advise!
I've a 6 Way Consumer Unit with Wylex Type B (WYB Series, BS3871) Push In/Pop Out style MCB's, which is working with no known faults.
Utilising 2 x 5A MCB's re front & rear ceiling light circuits, and 2 x 30A MCB's re front & rear power socket...
In my garage I have a Proteus mcb consumer unit. There is some garden lighting directly attached to a B20 single pole. No switch ! have to walk 100ft in the dark , open the garage and flick on the MCB to get the lights on. Such a bizarre installation. The cable runs under concrete , no chance of...
Hello
I'm a Level 2 electrical installations student and I have a question about Type B BS60898 circuit breakers.
I've been revising tonight and have noticed that the trip time on these is 3 to 5 times the rated current. What does this mean?
Say I had a 32A Type B would it trip over any...
Who makes a TP+N panel, bigger than a consumer unit, for example, 14-way (with space for 12 or 14 three-phase breakers).
It should feed its outgoing breakers using bus bars, not wires.
(I call this a Type B panel)
And it should be usable for Dual RCDs, one for the left side of the panel and one...
What do you guys tend to use Type B MCB for lighting circuits but know that some use Type C even when the loadings are low.
What do others prefer and why?
Hi fellas,
Anybody got any of these breakers kicking about in unit/garage?
Trawled ebay but no joy as yet

Can anyone help. At the moment I’m working on a library with about 11 power circuits for SSO & a CCTV/security system & 10 lighting circuits which are mostly track mounted LED spots & 2 fluorescent fittings all wired in T&E & MICC fed from a 125A TPN board. The spec calls for 10ka C type MCB or...
Greetings.
Friend of mine has a fridge freezer and a standing freezer that need RCBO protection.
Both these appliances run off the same socket which is a separate radial so easy to protect as it will only be these two items on this one particular circuit.
I am not sure of the starting current...
