Does anyone have any experience of the SMA 10000TL inverter? I was wondering whether the number of strings had an effect on the 3 phase output of the inverter. For example, does the array need to be arranged as 3 seperate strings?

From memory I think the 10000TL has 4 string inputs and the bigger versions have 5. Either way, they are single 3 phase inverters rather than 3 separate single phase units in the same case (if that makes sense) so there is no direct relationship between number of strings and number of phases. You could run it off one string if you wanted and the modules allowed such an arrangement. Currently designing a system using multiple 15000TL's with 2 strings on each.

Something like the Mastervolt XL10 or XL15 is 3 separate inverters in one box, one per phase, so on something like this you'd need at least one string per phase.

I'm doing a barn 10kw on a 10000 STPtl at the moment , when we did it on sunny design came out as 2 strings of 21 sharp235's on same input ,
generally if there is an equal no of modules on same aspect ,you'll have 2 equal strings on 1 input otherwise you'll get uneven strings one on each input, as for using all the inputs I don't know how this can be achieved on the design program ,but the new version is coming out soon which will have more flexibility on orientations
Dc combined within the unit giving one output 3 phase.
