Please help, I have just purchased wifi TCP strip light for the kitchen (multi colour and dimmer )
With a plug.
I was really hoping to have them controlled via a 3 gang dimmer switch which controls other lights in the room.
The plug has a 12 v transformer built in so I’m guessing I can’t cut the plug off and wire directly into the light circuit. (Or can I)
I could add a plug socket to the lighting circuit but understand this is not correct.
any suggestions would be really appreciated (other than get an electrician in as on a budget)
Thanks ?

Welcome to the forum mate.

No. Your light run off 12V. The lighting circuit is 230V

I could add a plug socket to the lighting circuit but understand this is not correct.

Nothing wrong with that, if the socket is purely for your lights. Just label up the socket.
Just put the socket above the cabinets and plug your light in.

Just be sure the socket is not on a circuit controlled by a dimmer, the power supply you plug in may not like the voltage/frequency coming out of the dimmer.

It is on a dimmer! Guess I just change it to a non dimmer switch!,
This is the key point. The dimmer 'alters' the power by chopping up the waveform to reduce its average voltage. The only things compatible with the resulting waveform are filament lamps and LED lamps that are specifically rated as suitable for dimming. Lighting containing any intelligent control requires a normal waveform of full voltage so that the intelligent bit can function.
