Hi guys first time posting and I'm looking for advice on the pros and cons of taking someone on and what experiences you have had with it in the past.

My work load is purely domestic and starting to get enough work in that I'm looking into taking someone on what is the best route to go down ie sub out or employ.

- How does certification work when subbing out ie signing off work

- What do you need in place ,documents and insurance wise

- What happens if the workload dies down when you take someone on , can you write something into the contract of enployment

A labourer / improver that you will need to keep a very close eye on

There is a big difference
 
I had a fair few employees and i found it takes a while to find a good reliable one
The best one i had was a just qualified 18/19 year old who worked along side me for around a year and then i used to send him out on his own with a van and he was with me 10 years or so
I had mostly employed staff as sub contractors can be busy elsewhere when you need them
You would obviously need to pay them holiday pay etc (i got my accountant to do payroll etc)
Insurance wise i would have employers even if a subcontractor was used, just to cover my butt
You must have all your health and safety stuff and poster in place, first aid kit etc etc
