2 way lighting, PIR motion activated

Hello All,

Is it possible to include a motion sensor into a 2way lighting circuit?

If so, how would you go about the wiring?

There are switches at the top and bottom of some basement stairs. The occupants are keen to include a motion sensor as they sometimes stuggle to find the switch when entering the house via the basement. The live feed is in the switch in the basement.

I did this by removing the switches completely and fitting occupancy detectors ceiling mounted so that they operate by movement by entry from either the top or bottom of the staircase, by doing this there is no need for switch wiring two way or otherwise. its just a loop to the detector and feed another cable out to the light fitting.

this quite common in communal areas of flats etc as it stops people leaving the lights on, the other way is to fit Hi/Lo lighting so that they have some light on all the time it is dark then with movement it gets bright.
