recently finished a job but have had lots of light fittings failing. about 20no 2.d lights . theres been emails to and throw about it as usual.. so i met the rep from the company we got them through (who buy them in and stick there company logo on) and it was found the ballast was rated at 24watt , its a phillips hf type so to me this is where the fault lies , but now the actual supplier of the lights is saying this is ok and the ballast is designed to operate the lamp, can this be true? anyone else came across this. cheers

doesn't sound right to me somehow ??

either way i try to steer clear from installing any high freq stuff on my jobs as they never last !! always having to go back and change a damn HF fitting !

starting to get hard to get hold of good old fashioned switch start now :(

look at this GE 24w 2D 4 pin (replaces 28w) - £4.95 : Lightbulbs2u.com

seems like they have rolled out a 24W lamp to replace the 28W for ECO reasons !

did the fittings come with the 28W lamps inside or were they sourced separately ?

No the lamps came with the fittings . and the fittings got the 28watt 2d lamp req sticker. the rep told me that there was a 24 w lamp out now too but i still cant c how the manufacturer can say a 24 watt ballast will power a 28 watt lamp...
