7 wires in my single socket

Hi all

I am after some advice I have an existing single socket with metal back box and 7 wires

3 earth to one point
2 live and 2 neutral

I have a new socket with usb that I want to swap to

I put all 3 earths in new face plate and the 2 live and 2 neutral in the correct places

Switched trip switch back on and it tripped whole system

Any advice would be a big help

Sounds like you have nicked the insulation on one of the wires to the back box, possibly the head of the countersunk screw.

Do you have a photo of the new socket wired up?

It’s only a 25mm back box, the cables will be squashed.

Does the rcd hold if it’s connected up but not screwed back?

Be very careful!

I‘lL put a beer on it being that far right hand live nicked by the earthed faceplate screw. Not a decent beer though
