Hi all , was doing a periodic on a domestic board. First I got 75V between the main earth and bonding earth . There was a L/E fault after clearing the fault I've tested between earths and now getting 8V. Is that acceptable , or is it still a fail .
Thanx in advance.

If your getting 8V then your bonding isn't very good.

Why do you not just test the bonding properly before making any decisions.

remake the clamps on clean copper. check the terminations. low ohms test MET to pipework.

If you had perfect continuity then you couldn't have a voltage between the two. I think you should check your continuity with a wander lead.

Between main earth and earth bonding cables at the board.
Didn't do continuity because was getting volts on earth. I was thinking could it just be transient voltage ? After all it's only 7V

The way I read your posts, you are disconnecting the bonding at the board and testing for voltage between a disconnected bonding cable and the earthing conductor (which is presumably is still connected to the system earth

What is your thinking behind carrying out this puzzling voltage test at first when a fault was apparent and later after the fault was cleared
Why was such a test carried out in the first place ?

A simple continuity test of the bonding conductors, yes,but what is your reasoning behind these voltage tests ?
