I went to a call out sunday night from a 96 year old lady with no power, therefore no heating and hotwater. When i arriveid i discovered the meter connectiions had burnt out on the suppliers side rendering the meter useless and un-useable

I phoned 7 phone numbers and the best part of 2 hours trying to get somebody out, including the emergency lines. nobody was interested.

I was not prepard to leave a 96 year old lady with no lights, hot water or heating so i bypassed the meter giving her free electric.

next day i continued my phone calls, trying to get somebody out. Again nobody was interested even after telling them i bypassed the meter. there excuse now was that they had water and heating so ins not an emergency and would only come out on the 15th april.

This is shocking, at one point the emegency call out was 4 hours, its now 24 hours when they finally decide whos responsiblity it is.

sometimes i find it quicker if you stretch the truth make it sound dangerous
however i found a vandalised meter and head and edf energy still took over 48hrs
(busy with the snowy weather)

That is dreadful service by the supplier, but good on you for doing the right thing

LOL, yeah good on you, but could have ended up easily been prosecuted...
Risky move, unless they gave you permission over the phone..:rolleyes:

The responsibility is with social services !!:)

we had power go down in a nursing home private and the local social services were responsible !!:eek:

so next time think about that rather than the property :mad:

i still think that the service you got from the DNO was (NO SWEARING) to say the least :eek::eek::eek:

Been there had the (NO SWEARING) and got the tee shirt a bit harsh but thats what the local social services told us in no uncertain terms !

I used to work for Norweb (North Western Electricity board) as a spark and then engineer for them for ovr 28 years, so i am more tghen qualified and experienced in working on the suppiers side.

SOB or Smell of Burning was an emergency call out with a 4 hour response. Now SOB is not an emergency call out.

Years ago they had specific people who would call round to houses just chencking the seals in meters with strict penalites and the meter was taking to the lab if it was broken on several occasions for investigation. Now nobody cares, even telling them over the phone they just dont care and to be honnest its frightning!!
