Discuss Adding a Distribution Circuit in the Australia area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi
I need to provide a direct supply on a dedicated circuit for some underfloor heating - but have no spare ways available.:(

Other than changing the CU for a larger one, I was thinking of adding a second one just for the heating circuit.

I am not certain of the best way to do this.

I suppose I could take live from an existing circuit on the current board - and relocate the affected circuit to the new board? I would then take neutral and earth from the terminals in the existing board.

Alternatively could I "split the tails" of the supply - to feed the new board direct -- and connect the new board earth to the MET?

I have heard of this before - but not actually seen or done it myself.
How would I split the tails? Would I use a henley block? If there is no isolator I suppose I would need to draw the suppliers fuse?

Is either method preferred?
- and hoe best to "split the tails"?

Many thanks in advance for any advice chaps:)

Cheers

pull service fuse
outgoing tails from meter to isolator
tails from isolator to double pole blocks
one set to each db

key words: partp, illegal, competant persons, labc, dangerous, certification, cross polarity, max demand, anyone care to add
