adding a light switch (4switch's in total)

if you had a intermediate switch set up and decided to add another switch does this new switch have to be 4 way ?

you would add another intermediate switch between one of the 2 way switches and the existing intermediate. there may be other ways, but it's too close to bedtime.

cheers dude i think there's only one way of wiring multiple switches and thats how you said,

Any additional switches in the circuit would have to be intermediate switches (which have 4 terminals and are effectively a crossover switch)
