Hello guys I am new and have just finished my level 3 2357 electrical installation and waiting to carry out my AM2.

My uncle has asked me to do a small job for him . He wants more lights added on to his existing garden lights. At the moment he has 4 spike lights , he wants another 4 spike lights and an extra 6 in his patio as a landscaper will be laying a new one .

My first question do I need to find the end of line to pick up my feed up off ? Or can I just take a feed off one of the wiska boxes that is feeding a light ( for example the first light on the circuit )

Second question is must I use swa ? Or will I be safe using FP 200 in a copex to give it that extra protection ?

And lastly with my patio lights the connections need to be accessible there is a small wall which I was planning to fix my wiska box too make the connection and then drill through the wall and run out to my patio light in a copex using th flex provided and repeat for every light. Is that correct ?

Please let me know what you think and some advice would be really appreciated.

If the loading works out OK and the correct OCPD is fitted it should be OK to pick up your feed from the Wiska box, but dont use FP200, SWA will be OK provided it's glanded correctly using outside rated glands. Sorry along with RCD protection, some may say not, just being ultra safe as I don't know how the existing installation has been wired. just read the last bit of your post, after drilling through the wall, are you planning on running surface or buried?

I was planning to run before the patio has been laid as the lights my uncle wants sit flush with the patio. Thanks for such a quick response !

I don't think Copex will do in such an environment. Have you checked it's capabilities. Quite apart from the FP200. And anyway under patio is probably not ideal. When it goes wrong it is hell to fix it.

hmm. i have singles in copex under our patio. been there 8 years. no sign of any problems.
