I have a client for whom I do PAT testing. She has a couple of studios in her garden which used to be holiday lets, they take electrical supply from the house. As she's now letting them out as long term lets, she'd like to install separate meters and asked me if that was possible.

As a lowly PAT tester I'm unsure what would be involved; could any electrician do this? Do the new meters need a new connection from the supplier or can they all be fed from the existing supply? Thanks in advance.

All you need to do is connect a meter up to the existing supplies.

Usually a MID approved meter if it is for resale to the people letting the studios.

Yes ......and no ......... I would suggest that long term tenants would probably use more equipment than holiday makers.

What is the supply ?
I don't know. I think its going to have to be something the electrician looks at, is this the sort of thing most electricians would be able to assess?
