Hi guys newbie here :)

I recently qualified and have been working as a sub-contractor for the past few years. Ive recently been offered some work by a local builder to install a new ring main and lighting circuit in an extension in a customers house. the work is to be carried out in 4 weeks. It needs to be certified but having spoke to the NIC it wont be possible to be assessed for 6 weeks time enabling me to be registered with them (ive sorted out public liability insurance). Any advice on how i would be able to certify this installation and fees if i was to notify building control myself would be greatly appreciated thanks. (The builder has said that any certificate aslong as it has the testing results on it would be ok but im not sure if a self certificate would be ok for building control)

an extension will already be subject to BC. contact your local BC and ask if they will accept your certificate. you should not have to pay them a fee.
