You have already received the best advice we can give you without endangering you or the installation, which is to employ the services of a local electrician.

Given this is in the garage and is unlikely to be a situation requiring an emergency repair, I suggest you make it safe and get an electrician in. If it is an urgent situation then I'm fairly certain you would be able to get a spark to come out at short notice providing you are prepared to put your hand in your pocket and pay their call out charge.
