I have had differing views from in relation to certification and testing of a new CCU so i thought I would ask on here for a definitive answer!
I am installing a new CCU. I will not be changing any circuits but arranging circuit protection for each circuit to comply with the 17th edition. The original CCU is 10 years old and so is the whole installation. I know I need an EIC and the two schedules that go with it.
My question is; As I am not extending or changing any original circuits, do I need to go through all the standard tests that you would do for a brand new install. My view is that this is a PIR and I am only doing an initial verfication of the CCU install. I know main bonding should be checked as a matter of course but why would I do continuity or IR testing on circuits I am not responsible for ot indeed have altered?
As I am installing new RCD's and some RCBO's and new CB's, I would obviously need to check that the RCD/RCBO times comply with the Regs. As for installed circuits I have no knowledge of, do I need to test them all? I presume I would list the all the circuits of the testing sheet but line through the testing columns and make it clear on the sheet what I have done and what I have not done?
Also, the Scedule of Inspections would have certain things checked as OK but as I am not doing a PIR, what do I include when changing a CCU?
I would be grateful for any help here as this install will be assessed for my part P application.
Thanks
