Think the Americans like to use that term. Horrible word.

They like their contractions.
sock + s = sox
thro + ugh = thru
ampere + capacity = ampacity
sock + capacity = sockacity
etc.

All to do with them charging per letter on the printing press I believe.

Hence why a lot of their words have letters missing that ours have.

Is anything real in the minds of the Americans? they live in a world of their own anyhow, just take a look at Mr Pres, he is from a different Planet than Mr and Mrs Normal, so what do you expect. I mean TRUMP, more like Trumpton.

Very broad statement there.

No, most arent the steyotype idiot. The majority I meet are far more eager to work and get on than English contractors I'm used to. Especially the younger generation.

However their voting system is hugely flawed. An yes, I've seen my share of idiots over here, but ive seen plenty in the UK too.

We cant exactly judge too harsh with the state of our country at the min.

Disagree Rob, sorry to disappoint. worked with too many of them, now Canadians are a different kettle of fish, in my humble opinion, for what it's worth as a true Brit, not a brit American, as we are in a special relationship as long as it suites the Americans that is. Just another US state only on a different continent, Special relationship my Backside.

I'm was born an raised in England Pete. I've only been here the past 4 years, spending more than a holiday or a couple of weeks working. Now the majority of my time is spent between here an Germany. Although I'm currently in Poland.

Sounds like you've just met a bad group

It was a rather large group that I met the Rob:tongue::tongue:

I have visited a dozen states in the USA,and in the main, found the folk i met, intelligent and level headed...not all sharing my views, but that's how it should be.

I've done similar,exhaustive research,in France.......no joy ;)

I’ve always found if you’re respectful and polite that’s how you get treated back......unless it’s the Spanish they struggle

Actually, raceway is a common term for an “enclosed cable way”. Generally what we would call trunking. They do tend to distinguish between raceways and conduit tho.

Their standards are pretty much as un-interesting as ours but the NFPA 70E handbook is pretty good. Just don’t get me started on their awg wire sizes where a bigger awg number is smaller in size, and their large cables are measured in MCM (thousands of circular mm2).

That plus their fascination of conduit for everything !
