Another case of “why did they do it like that?” 1E75E0BD-99FA-4C78-9759-9A00AE300063 - EletriciansForums.net

My father in laws garage. The pipe work was done when the garage was built. Lights in the garage include a PIR for outside lights. The 3 core clipped to the wall runs to an additional PIR wired in parrelel to existing, installed a couple years later.
The cable could have easily been added into the conduit, but they decided to do it this way.
Drilled through the pillar, not clipped around it. There’s half a brick missing on the other side.

Btw, I wasn’t living in the area when the garage was built, so he had to go with the builders electrician.

I should have said there’s sockets in the garage too. So 25mm carrying both circuits, 20mm to switch drops etc.

My issue is with the 3 core. It didn’t have to be clipped at all. A new conduit Into the existing system would be so much tidier

Who knows bud, ideally they should have installed more tube but more than likely turned up without looking at the job. Had a bit of twin & skin in the van and lashed it in, still don’t know why the hell they’d drill the column.

still don’t know why the hell they’d drill the column.

because it's there. ( as Chris Bonnington once replied to the question " why would you want to climb it?").
