Looked at a job today in an old house. Customer want to do away with the standard white rose and pendant and for something more in keeping with the house.

I've seen old style switches advertised before but can't for the life of me remember.

Anyone else fitted these before?

nice. as long as you've got a good fixing, we could lynch 3 plumbers simultaneously off that.

I think it's just pine, but I gave it 3 or 4 coats of French polish when I refitted it. Gives light coloured woods a beautiful colour, in my eyes anyway!

The copper could do with a Brassoing!

sure that's mahogany. and don't FFS brasso the copper. you;ll ruin it.

had a few from here mate not bad either and they do the bakalite ones , dont let him near ebay there are loads of dodgy original ones on there Ceiling Rose

bloody 'ell. looking at those prices, i'm never going to bin strip-out gear again.

i never realised that the bakelite stuff was worth cash?!
ive been binning them by the bag load? think ill have to change my ways and give them a spruce before popping them on th ebay.i did hear from a friend that art deco stuff was becoming cool again.
some of those ceiling roses are going for almost £40 each!
sod scrapping cable :p

What, No asbestos red and black flex? Half assed job if you ask me

Would like to see the price for a modern accurate reproduction of those big brass socket outlets :freak:

Edit: Just looked at some of those sites selling the reproduction/ old style switches etc. and the cooker/ shower ones still have red switches. I can't be the only one that hates manufactures doing that?
