I’ve been looking at fitting smart meters as an option and I was wondering if anyone here had any input.

From what i gather its not bad pay but some of the work is a bit shoddy.... had one today where meter fitted monday this week, undersized earth, cut out with soft leaking bitumen and an old VOELCB being used still as isolator but not connected anywhere. DNO called at 9 am and cut out changed by 10:30 which was pretty good going for WPD... he should never have swapped meter given state of the supply.

Yeah that doesn’t sound good. Surely the meter installer should have reported that?
 
Went to look at a fault a while back, no power in house. The outgoing line cable had fallen out of the smart meter that had been fitted 2 days earlier!
 
Hey John, Working away is a pain in the ---. I’m currently doing the same. If you can get a local number & be at home more and it’s financially viable then Go for it mate.
