Am not jib registered and I am taking an apprentice on this September the jib rates seem abit much to pay out in my opinion. Does anyone pay less than this. I realise if your jib u have to pay that rate but non registered pay whatever they like what is a realistic rate???am on my own and cautious but need the help.

*This rate is for apprentices under 19 or those in their first year. If you’re 19 or over and past your first year you get the rate that applies to your age.

JIB rates are higher than minimum wage. Higher again if you are in london. I assume if your apprentice is with JIB they sort his/her wages, from what i understand anyhow... Something i too am trying to get my head wrapped around at the minute. Have a read through the jib handbook on their website for exact wages and all that jazz.
 
Hi,

Never been self employed so never been in the situation; but looking at the JIB rates for an *apprentice* then surely £20 a day won't break the bank. When he/she has gained some experience they'll be paying you back in no time at all. After all you're probably charging more than that per hour for yourself.
