Discuss Are metal clad sockets more heat resistant than plastic ones? in the DIY Electrical Advice area at ElectriciansForums.net

As per title really. I need to install a storage heater which is quite close to a 13amp socket. The socket would be about 5cm from very bottom of heater. I don't think much heat is emitted from that part of the heater, but as a precaution, would there be any advantage in changing the socket to a metal clad one. My assumption is that it would provide more protection against heat, but would like confirmation of this. Thanks.

When you say 5cm from the bottom is this below it or to the side of it.

The existing plastic one will be fine.

The metal part obviously but the actual electrical encasement is still plastic so it doesn't make much difference.
