Hi there
I am a householder who had a loft conversion done in June. At the end of the work we received a NICEIC certificate. We recently received a letter from Niceic asking us to return the certificate as it wasn't valid.
The builder initially said his electrician hadn't paid his fee. Niceic said paying his fee had nothing to do with it and it's to do with Part P work and we should have been sent a 4 page doc with all sorts of readings on it.
Builder then said his electrician was sorting it out and if need be would go through a different body. How will he do that? Do you reckon we're ever going to get a certificate??

You are the person who paid for it therefor tell to give you a full written explanation why you should send it back also tell the builder you will be withholding further payment(s) until he can sort it out.

I agree with oldtimer on the written explanation part, you need to write to the NICEIC asking on what grounds they are demanding the return of YOUR paperwork and if you do return it, how you can then achieve certification of the works.

I guess after 5 months, you have paid in full for all works so retention is not now an option?
