Hello, id like to begin by saying i have read through through the 33 page topic on unqualified-inexperienced- badged "electricians, however there is a lot of differing opinions on these Electrical Trainee courses.
im 24 yrs old and im considering signing up to the ATL course, the "salesman" was round this morning and told a good story, however i would like to get some honest, non sarcastic answers from professionals in the trade.
Im looking at doing the full course which for a substantial amount of money consists of 3 main modules
1) domestic installer C&G 2357, part p and 17th ed
2)industrial "full scope electrician"
3) Installation and Maintenance of Solar Photo voltaic (PV) Systems
they are saying that to do all these i should be looking at 24 months, but i can be a DI in 12
i am not on a mission to get qualified and go self employed, i want to work for a reputable company and gain experience
What i would like to know is if i were to do this course would i be employable and able to work with a company for a few years to gain the necessary experience to be called an "electrician" or will i always be known as a Electrical Trainee and its not worth anything in the real world.
sorry if you have all answered these before but any help greatly appreciated
thank you
