Discuss automatic wire strippers in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net

I have the CK automatic ones and love them. Don't use them for twin but they save me loads of time when making up flex leads for downlights etc.

I do have a pair of these Knipex in my bag that have never been used:

ck croppers save me loads of time, especially on singles. I use nws side cutters for twin n earth for board changes, as they cut the outer sheath clean and straight.

Had automatic wire strippers, never used and gave them away.

i find these perfect from RS 157-0875

strip wire from .2mm - 6mm

there no adjusting or anything just pop the cable in and away you go.

£12

I use a pair of these as well and find them very easy to use, especially in tight spaces. Not so good on 4 or 6mm cable though as it is a bit of a faf to get the cable into the jaws so revert to snips in those cases.

hey sorry i not replied
i was after some automatic stripers as
at college a while back i saw some one blitzing through 2.5 t&e for a assessment
the cutters cut the sheathing nice and straight
they then strip the inner cable without nicking the copper
the chap using them flew through the ring he was doing with no negative feed back regarding his t&w
all cuts were straight and neat
shame he failed as he didnt run a continuos earth in his lighting for some reason :S

I had a pair like that. little farkers broke on me stripping 2.5mm 3 core despite them claiming to strip up to 6mm. also said from 0.2-6mm iirc. it was crap on anything that small.

now I do the same as OilBeDamned. snips up to 2.5mm, Stanley for anything over
