Hi all.
I'm a sheet metal fabricator by trade but over the years my home projects of making obscure lamps has grown quite considerably. These are usually made out of odd things like railway lamps, wrought iron or anything unique.
However I pass these on to a qualified electrician to wire them up for me ready for sale, but I would like to do them myself. Is there a basic qualification I can do to be certified to do this, I just need to wire a plug, inline switch and lamp holder to a cable, nothing more. Is there such a course available to meet my needs. Thanks in advance

Would be worth speaking to trading standards if you are selling them.

As what you make is on a plug top, you won't need to do any electricians quals. I would of thought the most relevant qualification would be the C&G 2377 PAT as you can test and certify them as safe. If you have that and you are using CE marked parts I wouldn't envisage any problems.

As above, if you are selling these lamps then they will need CE marking. You, being the manufacturer, will also have to guarantee that all the parts you are fitting are also CE marked and get all relevant paperwork for each CE item.
