Bayonet bulb base stuck in light fixture

So I was changing a lightbulb with a wide bayonet base to it. The actual glass bulb itself has come away completely, but the bayonet base and contact wires are still stuck in the light. How do I remove this?

Find a torch.

Turn off power to house, all switches and circuit breakers to off position.

Use a pair of long nose pliers or similar to remove old lamp base.
Fit new lamp then turn power back on.

Wear some protective eyewear in case some glass splinters out.

And have a good look at the holder and base to see if it has been damaged by heat .
