Hi all,

I completed my electrical trade training in the military (20 years ago) and left with the following quals,

City & Guilds Electrical Installation Competencies part 2

City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations(2381)

City & Guilds Electrical Installation Work Course C

City & Guilds Certificate in Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations (2391)

I left the military in 2014 and have been working offshore in ROV since. This year has seen work dry up due to various factors but I am still employed... Just.

I have realised I need a backup plan in case things go quiet or worse in the future.

I want to get back on the tools when I am home in between offshore rotations to get back up to speed, but where would you recommend I start? Obviously I need to get the 18th edition as I am only 17th at the moment.

The ideal place I would like to end up is sole trading as I can pick and choose what work I do and when, but initially where would be best to start? Sparkys mate? or approach local sparks and ask if they have casual work for me?

All advice and comments will be gratefully recieved.

Cheers

Woody
