Hi all,

The title says it all really, was just looking for opinions on the best looking class 2 light switches e.g. for a circuit without an earth, ideally wanted something that was a brushed metal type finish.

Many thanks,

M

Hager white (ice) plastic - it has curves that Hollywood would put on celluloid!
Plus the bonus of a loop for the neutral.

Bit of a contradiction in terms with the OP class 2 and brushed metal!

You mean chrome covered plastic! If it ain't earthed they can't have just anything!
I don't know of anything - Google is your friend!

In my experience anything plastic which is chrome covered is rubbish, especially if it is often man handled.
There are the plastic chrome looking pull cord switches but can't say I've come across anything else.

You can buy metal class 2 light fittings. Very expensive generally, but I don't see how the same principal can't be applied to a metal switch plate.

It could, but it won't be economically viable to make them, there just won't be the demand for them so they end up being many times the price of normal metal switches

Yep, agreed there Dave, the market for them would be small.
The one and only time I bought a class 2 three-bar spotlight it cost around £100. The earthed equivalent was £25.

I would rather rewire the circuit, so cpc is sorted, then metal switch's can be installed, other than that it is just plain old plastic with a choice of some limited colours.

you can get covers in various finishes which go over the top of a white plastic switch, but you can then only use those if the back boxes are the type with plastic lugs for the screws, they're not great but if the client is desperate...

All this hassle just to have metal plate switches - it's crazy. Just put white MK switches on and repeat this line 10 times:

"No-one is ever going to look at my switches and think 'why has he got white switches?' "
