Thanks for the reply not used fluke testers that often more used to the megger 1552 which is what i mainly used they are about same price always open to trying out new kit.

I'm a Megger man myself, 1730 is a nice unit although the 1731 is out now, not sure what the difference is. Also my lads all use Megger. I also have my trusty Metrel eurotest which I keep in the van as a back up and reference meter, I have had that for a long time and it never let's me Down.

Ditto above, have had 1730 for 4 years now. It has been back twice to Megger for repairs, first under warranty, but second cost the default of £280, otherwise its done me well. Like the rechargeable batteries, but never used the Bluetooth download facility. DO NOT purchase the 'On Site' software package, very expensive additional tech support, and the intuitiveness of the actual software is pants.

not what i'd call a good recommendation. i bought my 1553 from MDJ almost 4 tears ago, 2nd hand. never been repaired, passes calibration with no deviations. i think megger are going downhill with the later models.

True enough, but the 1500 series had their own issues when they came out. Perhaps the 1701 series will have rectified its predecessors faults.
By the way, is this what your 1553 looks like; ;)
