Hi everyone , my megger MFT 1552 has just worn out , so i am looking to replace it. I am not close minded to just megger and wondered what other people recommend is the most versatile cost effective tester currently on the market

thanks in advance for any comments

Avoid the Fluke MFT, very inconsistent readings and poor for PFC!!
which model? a mate picked one up from a retiring sparky and its very consistant and quicker than the companys aging megger 1512.

if your having consistancy problems i would check the leads, they need to be screwed really tight on fluke leads because there crap, swap to kewtech or another brands leads and there much better

popular brands

megger
fluke
kewtech
metrel
dilog

have a look at test-meter.co.uk the forum sponser.

they will happily advise you on the popular models

i used toto work with a guy that used a dilog and there not bad testers but not as many features as fluke and megger

The early fluke 165x series testers were pretty bad for inconsistent results and general poor performance. I should think they have got it all sorted out by now!

We had one of the early ones from when MFTs suddenly became all the rage at around the time prat P first appeared. It spent so much time being repaired it was ridiculous. I even did an NIC annual inspection with a meggar MFT which fluke had loaned us as a courtesy while the repairs were being re-done for the third time over.

Not sure on the exact model but it was only bought a few years ago.

Have replaced the leads and made sure they were tight bit never consistent results.

It's even been calibrated every year.

The earth loop reading can change by 0.30 ohms without moving the leads if tester.
