Hi,

We have been asked to confirm our company as the BNO for a medium sized residential development. We carried out the design and installation to BS7671 but have previously have never been asked to confirm this appointment.

We were on the understanding the Landlord/housing association owned this after our install.

Im a little concerned as assuming the responsibility of the BNO means we are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the system?

Does anyone have any info or advice on this? Thanks

Jamie

If you are going to become the BNO, there needs to be a detailed contract in place, (I'd recommend endorsed by your solicitor) - this responsibility is a good few steps beyond being the installer and the preferred electrician that gets called out as required. This is firmly within the realms of facilities management. Your liability insurer should also confirm your policy covers this responsibility.
