Just wondering what your thoughts are on this, have seen it done in a variety of ways, and the lads at work all have different ways of doing it, e.g. daisy chain from main bond to the gas pipe around each piece of equipment, another way to put earth straps at various points along the gas manifold then bond the equipment to that, but when i think about it does it actually need to be bonded surely the only way it could become live would be if the gas pipe became live and obviously if the main bond was sufficient this would clear the problem eliminating the need for the equipment to be supplementary bonded?

what are your views hope this makes sense

thanks

your right with your last statement IMO. Is the equipment extraneous? if it is, then bond it, if it isnt then dont!
As for people who say lets bond it because its touching the pipe, well if you apply that logic to everything, you would be walking around a huge mass of g/y

I've had to bond catering tables in an NHS facility...basically a large stainless table in a catering area. All that was done was to have a commando type socket on the wall with just an earth connection on it. On the table was a flying lead that plugged into the socket, table earthed. Not the best of ideas, we never specified it (architect) and loads of signage about to warn etc etc...

Same I have had to do tables before seems to me a lot of the things I have been told to do don't actually need done can't wait to tell them as its usually me who has to crawl around in between machines to Bond them and underneath tables when told to, save myself some work
