In amendment 1 of BS 7671 the BS1361 cartridge fuse is being replaced with the new BS88-3 fuse as part of over 700 changes. Another change is the replacement of the PIR form with the EICR form. My question is that after 1st January 2012 on the new EICR what version of BS7671 would have to be recorded if the EICR is for a BS1361 board?

In addition to that what about when I alter or extend an exisiting circuit with a BS1361 device? When I need to verify my Zs is still acceptable how will I do that with a version of BS7671 that no longer has any values for this protective device? Do I need to replace the protective device and change what may have been non-notifiable work in a domestic situation to notifiable?

I will continue to record the device as a BS 1361 if that is what is written on the device itself, whether using a 2008 PIR or a 2011 EICR.

Use the maximum Zs values for the BS 1361 devices from BS7671:2008 and the values from BS7671:2008 Amendment 1 for the BS 88-3 if they are labelled as such.

You will not need to replace any devices solely because of the change, exactly as you would not replace a BS 3871 purely because it was superseded by BS EN 60898

Thanks for that but on the EICR I haver to put what version of BS7671 I am working to so when I use both because of old kit what version should I identify? The same goes if I am altering an existing installation which is fitted with BS1361 by extending multiple circuits. Should I change devices to comply with the new maximum Zs for each circuit?

Use the new version for everything you can and then list the deviations and special notes on the Schedule of test results. EG BS1361 Fuse Zs values from BS7671 July 2008
Remember the Regs are a code of practice not LAW. Provided the installation is safe then upgrading is not always required
With the EICR you are inspecting and testing to the latest version of BS7671 and recording any deviations BS1361 fuses will be a deviation you can record explaining where you get your Zs values from as above.
