Buzzing Noise

hi,i have a timer linked to my existing boiler which does not seem to work but makes a buzzing noise all the time

Is it a mechanical or electronic timer.

It could be that the component which is buzzing is preventing it from working.

Has it always "buzzed" or has this coincided with it's failure to function.

hi,because it is annoying,when i turn the boiler off by the main switch it does not buzz then,so must be connected into boiler.
