insy

Hello,

Im new to this forums and to electrics in general, so this is my first post of hopefully many here :D. I've spent a while deciding if i really wished to do this course reason being i recently did my AAT's in college but i couldnt create myself a path in this career as i love to be hands on with things and active not sat in a office all day every day regardless if i like figures.

So my questions for you experienced people are ive started this part time course 4 weeks roughly late so i have lots of catching up to do but i would like to know the following if thats ok

- What should i be expecting to do within this years course?
- Are there any extra books or materials i can purchase which will benefit me and help me progress faster in this course?
- Would you recommend getting my Trainee CSCS card and phoning local sparky's and offering a free days labour to shadow there qualified electricians to gain some extra knowledge in the work place?

Any other tips and advice you can give me id much appreciate it :D im really looking forward to this and im hoping i do well but i know its not going to be easy. I already have highlighted my potential strengths and weaknesses figures/formulaes will be my strengths i believe as im fairly good with mathematics but the revising and remembers laws/regulations are my weaknesses as these are what i struggled with in the accountancy courses.

Thanks for your time
Much Appreciated
Ben

Hi Ben
Not sure what your questions is really, but its not the best time to be going into electrical work and I know the qualifications are changing ! I did the C&G 2330 at college over 3 years, but I think you have to be in the trade before doing NVQ as I think the 2330 is no longer availabe, but if its really what you want to do then finding a firm that will take you on will probably be your best bet.
Good Luck
Steve
