Hi all just a quick query, does any one know if a cable ratings calculator for the PC exists something that allows me to quickly check cable ratings and fuse sizes on my laptop so I don't have to keep pulling out the BGB all I need is a simple drop down menu that allows me to check sizes quickly as I have often forgotten my book or left it on another site, I know shock horror any suggestions please help

get the osg and make a table or spreadsheet for laptop with the ratings entered on that. what i did was scan a few relevant pages of the osg and save in laptop.

There are various free software packages available on the web, sorry cant remember them at the moment.
I have tried a couple in the past but although they are fast, I've never quite got on with them properly. Personally I prefer to use the old fashioned tables, feel more secure with them.

I tend to agree that having software to do our job makes us lazy. It only takes a minute to refer to OSG or BGB and work things out for ourselves. This keeps us in with the regs and in the habit of checking things are right. Just my view!

there is one called Cablecalc yu can get the free version but think this is only for T/E

or you can subscribe to get the full package
I also know there is this pdf template of the forum

I liked this PDF so much that I recently put all the info into an Excel sheet, you you can input the data into the relevant areas and it does the calcs for you. If anyone wants I can attach it on here or email it to them. I have made it relevant to the work I do, which is using SY & SWA cables, but you could always alter it.

Am I not allowed to attach Excel files here? Keeps saying its an Invalid File
