Morning....

I was wondering if you guys could help me with this..?!

I’m currently having my kitchen updated, including all new appliances...
The oven, according to the manufacturers documentation has a rating of 4.2kw, which is 2.2kw or the oven and 2.2kw for the grill... The paperwork states it requires a 20a supply...

I’m site based, and don’t have much to do with domestic installations generally, now obviously 4.2kw equates to 18.26a...
The run of cable is approximately 5 metres from the DB, and doesn’t travel through any thermal insulation as it’s surface mounted (mt2) high level in the conservatory and then back entry though the wall to pick up the oven (sounds worst than it actually is)...

Now please excuse my ignorance, but would you guys wire this with a 2.5mm t&e on a 20a breaker to a 20a double pole switch..?! (obviously with 30mA protection coming from the split load board).... Or would this be better on a 4.0mm t&e fed via a 20a breaker..?!

Any help would be very very much appreciation...

Table 4D2A says that a 2.5mm 70 degrees c, cable in a conduit buried in a thermally insulated wall will carry 18.5A

2.5mm cable 70 degrees c, enclosed in conduit or trunking ON a wall will carry 23A with a run of 5 meters VD would not come into it

If the cable run with others if so the grouping would need to be considered hope this helps

Hi - yes your selection should be fine. I read Sir Egg and raise again if you want to add a hob. Have you sorted heating? I recently added a plinth 2kW heater to my kitchen and I’m sitting in front of it now :) .
