Cabling for outside flood light with PIR

Hi
I'm installing some new floodlights and have noticed that the JB on the fitting itself will not accommodate an armoured gland but has a compression bush on it suitable for flex.
The only way I see of wiring it is to run armoured to a small JB (prob 100 x 100m) and come from there with some flex to the fitting, I can't seem to find any specific details in the regs on if there is a permissable length for the flex- or distance away from the JB the fitting can be.

sounds about right. i would just make the flex as long as i have to, to give a drip loop.

I'd use one of these...
20mm Black Enamel U Box
with the legs pointing downward & loop the flex up into the light.

If it's exterior a Galv box would be better.

If wiring several floodlights the use of conduit boxes is a sensible suggestion. Use a Through box with a spouted cover plate for your cable gland connection (don't forget the required cover plate rubber gaskets) for all but the last of the flood lights, where you can use a stop end box... Don't forget to use exterior rated SWA glands...

I wouldn't use black enamel boxes for exterior work, only galvanized will do... There are several means of achieving what you want to do, including using U boxes or Tee boxes instead of Through boxes. You can also go the plastic box route but in the main, they tend not to stand the test of time too well....
