Hi guys,

We moved into our new premises a few months ago (an industrial unit) and since then, I've been wondering what this is and what purpose it could have served. It doesn't seem to do anything but just wanted to know if anyone knew what it was out of pure curiosity!

Thanks in advance! :)

Welcome to the forum.

Could be a timer possibly in hours for maybe outside light to cut out or maybe a speed-control for a extract/intake fan.

I personally don't recognise the unit itself but I'm sure some of our aged members can nail this one.

That there is a 5 speed reversing fan controller. Used on some of the cheaper ceiling fans. Possibly other tings too.

Possible someone has disconnected the load looking at the missing paint underneath and broken cable clip?

As Broadreach said, definitely a redundant ceiling fan controller. It doesn't look like it's a hazard so if it's not an annoyance I'd just leave it. If you're going to disconnect and remove it turn off the power first at the main isolator switch in the CU.

It's just a metal plate that when you order 5000 or more from the manufacturers they print whatever brand name you want onto it.
