On my way home every night I pass a house in the countryside which has a wind turbine in the garden which stands approx 30 feet high, I was just wondering if anyone could tell me if this wind turbine's output is AC or DC?

it will be a ssimilar set up though as you say with rectifiers, invertors and phase sync..

Yep, that's why I plumped for DC for a smaller model. I've not seen any standalone AC->AC phase sync tech for grid hook up.

Maybe they're AC and probably supply a battery charger for deep cycle batts via a charger?
 
Almost certainly DC - most SMA PV inverters can actually be switched into turbine mode to be turned into windy boy inverters.

try knocking the door mate and ask the occupier if you show your interest they may show you how its configured
