Most small wind turbines are DC at 12, 24 or 48V and can be directly connected to a battery charger or suitably sized inverter. Larger (>5 kW) will be producing 'wild AC' where the frequency and voltage varies with wind speed with the larger sizes being 3 phase. This output will be rectified to DC and then connected through a grid-tied inverter to produce 230V 50Hz AC.
