Hi Guys,
I was asked a question recently about caravan parks. Not my area really. Any one know the max distance for local isolation for a caravan park home (like a bungalow)? I think the distance for a touring caravan is 20/25m flex can be used. But is a caravan park home treated the same? I can't see anything concrete in special locations. Thanks

Firstly, I'm only a trainee so my answer is based on my interpretation of the bgb rather than experience.

Is the park home "for temporary or seasonal occupation?" If so, it is a "leisure accommodation vehicle" according to BS7671 definitions, and so section 708 applies; specifically 708.530.3: "Caravan pitch electrical supply equipment shall be located adjacent to the pitch and not more than 20m from the connection facility on the leisure accommodation vehicle... "

If the park home is not a leisure accommodation vehicle, as defined in the regs, then my view would be the 708 does not apply. Not sure where that leaves you, as I'm only up to page 71... a riveting read it most certainly is not (the plot is a mess and I feel no empathy with the main characters; although the spelling and grammar are impeccable).

park homes have a typical CU, the same as in any house, and this incorporates the main isolation switch for the installation. some may have a separate isolator before the CU.

Yes re isolator before the leisure home / internal consumer unit. Is the Leisure home treated as a fixed building or classed as a temp building like porta cabins etc

if it's a permanent dwelling, then 708 does not apply. general regs. as in any permanent installation.
