Hi, mrs cleaning cooker and pulled knob off to clean underneath, this fell apart and when I tried to put it back together it tripped the electrics, the fuse is an old cartridge style, just wondering if I can replace this for a mcb/rcd? It has 2 slats that run horizontal rather then vertical! Can't find anything for it, except that this is notifiable, will get a sparky in but just don't want to waste there time coming round if not possible!! And before you say it, NO I am not replacing the fuse box as we rent and I ain't paying for someone else to have a spanking new fuse box? I will just get a fuse if it can't be done!!

Think you've answered your own question. New fuse.

Kinda intrigued as to how a cooker knob will trip the electrics? Never come across this before so would love to be educated by anyone who has and what caused it?

Treat the cause not the symptom if you change the fuse it will blow agin!!! Yr misses has got fluid in the cooker !!! Needs stripping and cleaning

Did he not declare she was pulling the knob off. Cause and effect sir, its cause and effect

Whats pulling the knob off got to do with fluids in the cooker? Well I suppose that depends which knob she was pulling off ......

@jase158 - Its an MEM Memera 3 board and no you can't get plug in MCBs for it. Nor for most other MEM rewireable boards. The plug in MCBs are only for Wylex boards or their clones.
What exactly happened though?

If its a rental property, the Landlord should be paying up for repairs/replacement parts etc
